This is a great way to train workers at your convenience. You can even develop toolbox talks using this CD-ROM that covers a variety of subject areas. Users can mix and match these modules depending or their needs, to build a customized course. Depending on the number of modules used, a short course could be as long as one hour or last up to three days.
The course is divided into 20 PowerPoint modules. Each module is approximately 15 minutes long and is accompanied by a printable student workbook.
We recommend that your Certified Traffic Control Supervisor or your Safety Officer present these modules to your work crews. Each module includes several questions that can be used to ensure the student's understanding of the concepts covered in each module. Description of Short-Duration Modules
Below is a brief description of each module. The number in parenthesis is the number of slides in each module. To give an idea of the time needed to present a module, if you assume one minute per slide, then the number in parenthesis would be the number of minutes needed to present the training.

Introduces the modular approach of the course. It provides information on ATSSA and its programs. It quantifies the traffic safety problem in the United States, in terms of fatalities and crashes, to highlight the importance of traffic control. It lists the 21 modules and provides an example on how to use the modules to develop a custom course.
Module 1
Introduction to Low-Speed Traffic Control (32)
Introduces the key concepts and fundamentals of low-speed traffic control. It covers the objectives of traffic control, the fundamental principles of traffic control and manuals and standards.
Module 2
Parking Lane/Shoulder Work (48)
Discusses aspects related to traffic control for work on shoulders or parking lanes. It covers the fundamental concepts of visibility, warning and control.
