Infrastructure Week kicks off on Monday and focuses on meeting the nation’s needs for roads and bridges as well as safe travel for pedestrians and bicyclists. “Infrastructure is critical to roadway safety,” ATSSA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner said. “This week provides one more reminder of the importance of coming together to provide safe travel for all roadway users. In a nation where division is all too common these days, infrastructure unites us.” United for Infrastructure, an annual awareness campaign, is in its ninth year. This year’s effort asks stakeholders to rally lawmakers to act on behalf of communities, businesses and workers. The organization encourages people to consider infrastructure’s impact on jobs and to think long-term in setting in policies and priorities. ATSSA and hundreds of other organizations are seeking support for funding of the nation’s crumbling infrastructure. “We encourage everyone to speak with a unified voice to decision makers on Capitol Hill because Congress will not act unless they hear from their constituents,” ATSSA Vice President of Engagement Nate Smith said. “Advocate for long-term solvency of the Highway Trust Fund, reauthorization of transportation policies and putting Americans to work manufacturing, installing and maintaining lifesaving roadway safety infrastructure devices. There is a unique opportunity in Washington, D.C. right now to make transformational investments in roadway safety to reduce fatalities toward zero. Together, let’s tell Congress to get the job done.” Previous Article Senate Republicans release infrastructure framework Next Article MASH scoping study discussed during AASHTO Virtual Spring Meeting 2021 Print 928 Rate this article: No rating Tags: infrastructure week roadway safety infrastructure congress highway trust fund Stacy Tetschner United for Infrastructure infrastructure funding roadway safety infrastructure devices Please login or register to post comments.
