SuperUser Account / Monday, September 11, 2017 / Categories: ATSSA, FHWA, Government Trump to nominate former Iowa DOT director as FHWA administrator Paul Trombino III, of Wisconsin, was selected by President Donald Trump to be nominated as the administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), according to a Friday announcement made by the White House. Trombino's nomination was sent to the Senate the following Tuesday, Sept. 11, along with nine others. Trombino is the current president of McClure Engineering Company, a civil engineering company focused on transportation, aviation, water, and structures projects. He served as the director of the Iowa Department of Transportation from 2011 to 2016 and as the president of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials from 2015 to 2016. Trombino also was the 2016 vice-chair of the Transportation Research Board Executive Committee. The acting administrator for the FHWA is Brandye Hendrickson, who was appointed to be the FHWA's deputy administrator in late July.
