ATSSA Announces Innovation Awards at 50th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 28, 2020) – Three exhibitors at ATSSA’s 50th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo received Innovation Awards today in recognition of new products created by their companies that contribute to the industry’s mission of advancing roadway safety and working Toward Zero Deaths. Products from Royal Innovative Solutions, Pi Variables and VER-MAC were selected as first, second and third place, respectively. They were chosen on the criteria of lifesaving qualities, degree of need, innovation, design and eligibility under the Highway Safety Improvement Program.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 27, 2020) – The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), in partnership with the National Academy of Sciences’ Transportation Research Board (TRB), honored the winners of the Traffic Control Device Challenge (TCD Challenge) today during a ceremony at the Association’s 50th Anniversary Convention & Traffic Expo. Engineering students from across the U.S. competed in the TCD Challenge, which was titled: “Connected and Autonomous Innovations for Improving Work Zone Safety.”

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 25, 2020) – The American Traffic Safety Services Association is pleased to announce winners of the Industry Achievement Award, the National Safety Award, Foundation Champion Award, Mark of Excellence Award and National Media Award. The awards were given as part of the 50th Annual Convention & Expo, which runs from Jan. 24-28 in New Orleans. The winners were announced during this evening's 50th Anniversary Gala.

(Jan. 21, 2020) – The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) selected 20 companies to participate in its 2020 New Products Rollout event, which is held in conjunction with the 50th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo on Jan. 26 in booth #1679 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. 

ATSSA continues work on traffic signals membership segment

Work continues on incorporating traffic signals into the Association’s activities to advance roadway safety. In 2019, ATSSA formed a Traffic Signals Committee and new membership category during its Midyear Meeting to ensure that the Association is representing all sectors of the roadway safety infrastructure industry and areas related to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). It also will allow ATSSA to move forward with new partnerships with traffic signal installers and manufacturers.

As part of the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation’s (ATSS Foundation) mission to support the loved ones of those impacted by work zone crashes, the nonprofit’s scholarship programs offer healing and educational opportunities. The Foundation offers three scholarship programs: the Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship, the Experience Camps Travel Scholarship and the Marty Weed Engineering Scholarship.
