Stone Shakers named best band in ATSSA’s Got Talent contest

Winner invited to perform at 2022 Convention in Tampa, Fla.

Stone Shakers was announced today as winner of ATSSA’s Got Talent: Battle of the Bands edition, a contest held as part of ATSSA’s 51st Annual Convention & Traffic Expo.

The band is based in Wilmington, Del., and includes ATSSA member Tony Cappella on bass and vocals. Cappella works for Hill & Smith Inc. He is joined by band members Samantha Poole, who plays guitar, keyboard and saxophone in addition to being lead vocalist; Pete Cogan on harmonica; Kevin Walsh on vocals, guitar and mandolin; and Glenn Walker who does vocals in addition to drums and percussion.

This was the first ATSSA’s Got Talent contest, added for the Association’s online Convention that started Feb. 8 and concludes on Thursday.

Convention attendees selected the winner through online voting. Two other bands competed. Mosquito is based in Elyria, Ohio, and includes four members, three of whom work at Dynatech. The Winehouse Experience is a nine-member band based in Long Beach, Calif. Sax player Steve Wilson is a supply manager for Traffic Management Inc.

Each band was required to have at least one person who was an ATSSA member, exhibitor or attendee at the Convention & Traffic Expo.

Stone Shakers will have the opportunity to perform at ATSSA’s 52nd Annual Convention & Traffic Expo scheduled for Feb. 11-15, 2022, in Tampa, Fla. Members of the band also receive a Yeti Rambler half gallon jug.
