This 35-mile stretch of roadway in Northeast Ohio is a living laboratory where multiple organizations are testing automated and connected vehicle technology including ways to protect pedestrians. The project is a partnership between private industry and government entities as well as residents in those communities and has been dubbed “the world’s most connected highway.” Convention Extra is also online and provides a commemorative of the 2022 Convention & Traffic Expo in Tampa, Fla., and an opportunity to see what you missed if you didn't attend this reunion of the roadway safety industry. We anticipate nearly 3,000 in attendance this year, including more than 150 department of transportation (DOT) officials representing 40 states. “I’m looking forward to taking part in the first in-person Convention & Traffic Expo of my tenure,” said ATSSA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner, who joined the Association in March 2020. “Last year’s virtual event exceeded my expectations but I know for our members nothing can replace the tangible and intangible advantages of gathering in person with other industry experts so I am eager to be part of the experience.” Read more
ATSSA's 2022 Convention & Traffic Expo marks official start of two new councils ATSSA's 2022 Convention & Traffic Expo marks official start of two new councils Councils address roadway worker protection and women in roadway safety Pam / Wednesday, January 5, 2022 0 4233 Article rating: 5.0 ATSSA’s 52nd Annual Convention & Traffic Expo officially launches two new association councils—the Roadway Worker Protection Council and Women in Roadway Safety Council. The Roadway Worker Protection Council evolved from the Roadway Worker Protection Summit held as part of ATSSA’s 2021 Annual Convention & Traffic Expo. Members who lost an employee as a result of a work zone incident recognized the value of creating resources to help guide others through the process if a tragedy befalls their company. They also recognized the need for greater focus on creating a culture of safety to prevent injuries and deaths. The Women in Roadway Safety Council held an organizational meeting at ATSSA’s Midyear Meeting in August. ATSSA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner originated the idea for that council with the aim of formalizing a way for women to network, learn from one another and develop leadership skills in the male-dominated roadway worker infrastructure industry.
