ATSSA driving innovation at 2025 Convention & Traffic Expo

Event includes tribute to roadway workers killed in the line of duty

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (Feb. 11, 2025) – ATSSA’s 55th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo is devoted to driving innovation for roadway safety and launches with a day dedicated to the brightest minds in the industry sharing their insights through 40 education sessions.

The next day, roughly 4,000 industry enthusiasts will gather for a 90-minute session packed with information including a state-of-the-industry report by ATSSA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner and announcement of national awards that address safety, media coverage and the Association’s highest honor—the Industry Achievement Award.

Keynote speaker Doc Hendley of Wine to Water (wtw.org) shows the difference between unfiltered water and water run through the nonprofit’s “DROP” filter. His group has distributed thousands of filters to people in Western North Carolina since Hurricane Helene.

Keynote speaker Doc Hendley, founder of global nonprofit Wine to Water, will also take the stage during that March 3 session, sharing how every individual can make a difference—and even save lives—with one great idea. Hendley, whose organization helps provide clean water around the world, has also been involved in recent domestic efforts including relief assistance for victims of the California wildfires. His group immediately pitched in to help people impacted by Hurricane Helene in his home state of North Carolina and is continuing efforts there.

ATSSA Vice President of Government Relations Cameron Greene will provide a briefing of key industry issues in Congress and insights related to President Donald Trump’s second administration.

Kevin Shelton, Board Chair for the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation—the charitable arm of ATSSA—will discuss the many ways the Foundation has helped individuals and families over the past year. He will then introduce the most somber moment of the Annual Convention & Traffic Expo, the tribute to the men and women killed in roadway work zone incidents.

ATSSA’s 2025 Convention & Traffic Expo runs from Feb. 28 through March 4 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Foundation events occur offsite on Feb. 28 followed by the business of ATSSA through committee and council meetings on March 1. The general Convention convenes with Education Day on March 2, followed by the 90-minute general session on March 3 that kicks off a host of activities on the floor of the massive Traffic Expo. There, 250 exhibitors will display the latest innovations in roadway safety, including 20 products entered in this year’s New Products Rollout. The Traffic Expo, stretching over 300,000 square feet, opens March 2 with a sneak peek at 4 p.m. and is then open throughout show hours on March 3 and 4.

This year’s Convention includes several new features including a Newcomers Tour geared at helping first-time attendees navigate the event that is the largest gathering of this industry in North America. The media is welcome to attend this tour held March 2 at 3 p.m.

A New Products Rollout Tour will be held March 3 at 1 p.m. for members of departments of transportation (DOTs) from across the country to see the 20 products that qualified for this year’s New Products Rollout. It will be led by members of ATSSA’s Innovation & Technical Services Team and will provide an opportunity for DOT employees to speak with representatives of the companies that created the products. The media is welcome to participate in this tour.

ATSSA’s Innovation Award will be announced on the Traffic Expo floor immediately after the New Products Rollout Tour.

ATSSA is also holding a Work Zone Safety Device Demonstration, funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), on the Expo floor on March 4 at noon. Devices involved in the demonstration include the Residential Driveway Temporary Signal, Automated Flagging Assistance Devices (AFAD) and Portable Traffic Signals (PTS).
