The “Traffic Control Device Innovations to Improve Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety at Signalized Intersections” publication describes successful strategies adopted by transportation agencies to improve the ability of non-motorists to travel safely through signalized intersections by raising the visibility of pedestrians and bicyclists to motorists and maintaining the physical separation between motorists and non-motorists traveling through signalized intersections.
