The purpose of the “A Guide to Temporary Traffic Control in Work Zones” (TTC Guide) is to present basic standards and guidelines for temporary traffic control (TTC) in highway work zones, including installation and removal of TTC devices.* This 6 x 9″ guide serves as a course reference for ATSSA’s Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification course. This guide is based on the TTC standards and guidelines found in Part 6 of the 2009 Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). It includes some of the TTC principles, standards, guidelines and selected typical applications included in the MUTCD. Page numbers shown in parenthesis refer to the page numbers of the MUTCD where additional information can be found.

*California (CA) version is 6.67 x 9.67,” is specific to CA work zones and references ATSSA’s CA-specific TCT course and Part 6 of the 2014 Edition of the California MUTCD. Texas (TX) version is specific to TX work zones and references ATSSA’s TX-specific TCT course and Part 6 of the 2011 Edition of the Texas MUTCD.
