    • The 2011 Virginia Work Area Protection Manual with Revision 2 contains the most current standards, guidance, options and support for the design, application and placement of temporary traffic control devices on roadways in Virginia. This revision took effect for daily operations after Aug. 31, 2019 and for projects advertised after Jan. 1, 2020.
    • ATSSA’s National “Quality Guidelines for Temporary Traffic Control Devices and Features” is a 3.75 x 8.5″ pocket-size handbook that helps contractors and agency personnel determine when a traffic control device has outlived its usefulness. Color photos and/or written descriptions of work zone devices illustrate three levels of device condition: acceptable, marginal and unacceptable.
  • 2012 Virginia Work Zone Safety Guidelines for Temporary Traffic Control Devices Pocket Guide – The purpose of this 2012 Virginia Work Zone Safety Guidelines for Temporary Traffic Control Devices Pocket Guide is to present basic guidelines for work zone traffic control and to supplement the 2011 Virginia Work Area Protection Manual with Revision 1, with emphasis on short-term work sites on roads and streets in rural and urban areas.
